This is an introductory course in aquatic therapy. It is a two-day comprehensive course in which the student will experience three-dimensional spaces.

You will learn to understand what aquatic therapy is and when it is appropriate for your clients. You will experience the properties of water as they relate to movement, and understand the benefits of water therapy techniques. You will also use the element of water as an educational tool to further understand the way the Rolf line relates to its environment.

Water affords us three forces to balance within - gravity, buoyancy and water pressure. You will experience these three elements as they relate to core balance. Goals include:

  • Knowledge of water physics

  • Knowledge of techniques-bad ragaz, halliwick, Watsu

  • Hands on application /experience techniques

  • Basic knowledge of how and when to use this technique

Students will have hands-on experience of various water techniques and experience the physics of water. You will also have an understanding of the effects of water techniques.

Course will be conducted in an indoor warm water pool.

About Sylvia - Sylvia Schepps Baker is the founder of Aquatic Solutions Inc. since 1988. She created the “Water Angels” program for parents and children with special needs. Her water therapy clientele includes all ages and various conditions that include neurological disorders, post-surgery, autism, cerebral palsy to post cancer clients. Sylvia teaches workshops on aquatic therapy across the country to physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. She also conducts workshops for parents and teachers of children with special needs.
